Fire Trucks, Dump Trucks, and Log Trucks Crash in South Carolina

Log_Truck

Recent truck accidents in South Carolina have shown that all types of these commercial vehicles are highly dangerous. Whether it’s a log truck or a dump truck, a slight mistake can lead to serious consequences for average victims. Even fire trucks operated by local governments can crash at high speeds, causing life-altering injuries for innocent people. What can you do after a truck accident in South Carolina? Can a personal injury attorney help?

Log Truck Crash Kills Driver

In July of 2025, a log truck accident in Chatham County led to the death of a female driver. Authorities say that the log truck driver was attempting to make a left-hand turn as the female driver approached in her BMW. Under unclear circumstances, the BMW driver impacted the rear of the truck – striking a log “protruding” from the vehicle.

The impact sent the BMW veering off the road and into a tree, while the truck driver continued making his left-hand turn into a paper mill. The accident caused critical injuries, which ultimately proved fatal for the driver.

Authorities say that they are continuing to investigate this incident. It is not clear whether the logs were properly loaded onto the truck, or whether the trucker made a lawful left-hand turn. It may be that the BMW driver was following too closely, although it is impossible to make any conclusions without additional information.

Fire Truck Causes Two Hospitalizations in Columbia

At around the same time, a fire truck crashed in Columbia and caused two hospitalizations. Authorities say that the fire truck and a sedan were heading in the same direction when the driver of the fire truck made an “improper lane change.” This maneuver brought the truck into contact with the sedan, causing a rear-end collision and sending the smaller vehicle into a ditch.

While no one inside the fire truck was injured, two victims inside the sedan were hospitalized. It is also worth noting that there was no emergency at the time of the crash, and the fire truck did not have its sirens or lights activated.

This comes just one week after a woman was killed by a similar fire truck accident in Richland County.

Dump Truck Flips Over on I-26

A few days earlier, a dump truck overturned on I-26. Although Fox Carolina did not reveal whether this incident had caused any injuries, it highlights the dangerous nature of dump trucks.
