Monday night at around 10:00 p.m., Ahmad Yakub and his 25-year-old passenger were driving in a 2003 Ford Escape traveling north on Lamb Boulevard in the Northeast Valley of Las Vegas. At the same time, a Kenworth TT semi-truck was traveling south on Lamb Boulevard, preparing to make a left turn onto Alto Avenue. The semi-truck crossed into Ford’s path causing a serious accident.
“On one hand, it appears the semi-truck was at-fault for crossing into the path of the Ford Escape. On the other hand, police booked the driver of the Ford Escape for potentially driving while intoxicated. Simply because a driver is intoxicated does not necessarily establish that his intoxication caused or contributed to the crash. In these types of cases, it is critically important to involve a toxicologist as well as an accident reconstructionist.”
