Who Can Be Held Liable After A Trucking Accident?

Legal contributor Attorney Brian Mickelsen, an experienced truck accident lawyer, represents victims injured or killed in semi-truck accidents. Below, Attorney Mickelsen shared his insight into the legal options available to victims injured in commercial truck accidents.

“Defective tires or tire blowouts are commonplace on the road. When it happens, everyone is in danger. It is imperative, where possible, to preserve the tire immediately. Once retrieved, investigators and experts may analyze the cause and origins of the defect. For example, truck drivers are required to conduct routine, pre-inspections. Trucking companies and their drivers should also implement maintenance checks. There may also be a defect originating from the tire manufacturer itself. All angles of liability should be thoroughly explored.”

What Should I Do When I Or A Loved One Have Been Involved In A Trucking Accident?

“When such an accident occurs, it is critically important that key evidence is not lost or destroyed. This includes witness testimony, dash and body cam footage from responding officers, dash cam video from the truck involved, electronic black box data from all vehicles involved, vehicle inspections from the at-fault truck, and hours of service logs from the at-fault truck driver, toxicology reports, etc.”
