Unsafe Truck Driver? 49-year-old Biker Jed Jorgensen Killed by Semi-Truck in Spanish Fork, UT
On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at around 11:31 a.m., police responded to a fatal crash near Canyon Creek Parkway and Highway 6 in Spanish Fork, Utah. A semi-truck was making a right-hand turn when it struck a 49-year-old riding a bike on a crosswalk. The victim, Jed Jorgensen, was transported to the hospital where he eventually succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identity has not been released at this time.
“Failing to yield the right-of-way to bicyclist on a crosswalk creates a deadly safety risk. Truck drivers must always remain attentive to their surroundings, including bicyclists and pedestrians. This tragedy appears to be a clear-cut case of negligence.”
What Should I Do When I Or A Loved One Have Been Involved In A Trucking Accident?
“When such an accident occurs, it is critically important that key evidence is not lost or destroyed. This includes witness testimony, dash, and bodycam footage from responding officers, dashcam video from the truck involved, electronic black box data from all vehicles involved, vehicle inspections from the at-fault truck, and hours of service logs from the at-fault truck driver, toxicology reports, etc.”
