Multiple Shootings in South Carolina Restaurants, Bars, and Gas Stations

RestaurantCrime

Establishments such as bars, restaurants, and gas stations are becoming increasingly unsafe for the general public due to increasing gun violence. Four notable shootings have occurred within the past week, and these incidents have led to numerous injuries. Miraculously, no one was killed. What can you do if a shooting at a business caused you to suffer injuries? Can you file a negligent security lawsuit in South Carolina?

McDonald’s Shooting Leads to Three Injuries in Gaffney

In December of 2025, 7 News WSPA reported that a McDonald’s shooting in Gaffney had led to three injuries. The incident occurred at around 4 PM, and police arrived to find two victims in the parking lot with gunshot wounds.

A third victim was eventually transported to a nearby hospital by first responders. Aside from these basic facts, the circumstances of the shooting are unclear. Police did not reveal whether they had taken anyone into custody in connection with the attack.

Bar Shooting in Horry County Leads to Two Arrests

Also in December, ABC 15 News reported that authorities in Horry County had taken two suspects into custody in connection with a shooting at a bar. The incident occurred at around 8 PM, and police arrived at the scene to find shell casings scattered outside the establishment.

Security footage showed one of the suspects firing multiple shots before fleeing. Police caught up with this man and arrested him and his getaway driver. ABC News did not specify whether the victim was struck by any rounds.

Defendant Arrested After Shooting Two People at a Gas Station

Another early December shooting occurred at a gas station in Seneca. WYFF 4 reports that at about 2:00 AM, an assailant emerged from the gas station and opened fire at a vehicle. He struck and injured the driver and another vehicle occupant as they were attempting to flee. While the pair were hospitalized by first responders after the incident, they survived and were later released by healthcare providers.

Again, local police used video surveillance to identify the defendant. They then arrested him on an outstanding warrant and charged him with attempted murder.

Victim Airlifted to Nearby Hospital After Gas Station in Summerton

Days earlier in late November, a man was airlifted to a nearby hospital by first responders after another gas station shooting in Summerton. Police arrived at the scene to find a victim with gunshot wounds to the shoulder and thigh, but these injuries stabilized thanks to the swift action of paramedics.

Police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened. They suspect that the two might have known each other prior to the shooting, but the assailant’s motives remain unclear. Fortunately, the defendant was taken into custody by the authorities shortly after the incident, but charges are still pending as of this writing.
