Negligent Security? 32-year-old Raymond Goodman Shot and Killed at Pilot Travel Center in Charlotte, NC.

Local news reports that on October 4, just after 11:30 p.m., two men were shot at a Pilot gas station and convenience store on Statesville Avenue. Both men were rushed to the hospital. Raymond Goodman, one of the shooting victims, died hours after the shooting. Goodman served in the Navy, was a member of an RB group, Metal Roze, and was well-known in the community. The other victim is in critical condition and fighting for his life. Police have not released information about the shooting.

Recent Google reviews suggest that an incident at this location was not surprising. A WBTV article states that “CMPD’s crime mapping software to do a search of all violent crimes within a half-mile radius of this location shows that, since June 1, more than a dozen violent crimes ranging from armed robbery to aggravated assault with a gun took place.”
