Shootings Reported at South Carolina Bars, Restaurants, Hotels, and Gas Stations

During the first few weeks of June 2025, numerous establishments across South Carolina experienced gun violence. These incidents further highlight the lack of safety at bars, restaurants, gas stations, and hotels throughout South Carolina. If you were injured in a recent shooting at a business, you might want to consider a negligent security lawsuit in South Carolina.
Airbnb Shooting Leaves Teenager Dead in South Carolina
In June of 2025, WBTV reported that a major shooting had occurred at an Airbnb in Columbia. The incident left one teenager dead and three others injured. Police say that shots were fired at about 5:00 AM, and it reportedly started with an attempted break-in. What happened next isn’t exactly clear, but 30 shots were discharged very quickly. Police described the scene as a “war zone,” and images show the Airbnb riddled with bullet holes.
Police arrested several teens after the incident. Authorities also held the Airbnb owner accountable for the incident, noting that the property will soon be labeled a “public nuisance.” However, authorities also noted that nothing like this had happened at the property in the past.
Columbia Bar Shooting Leaves One Dead
Also in June, a shooting at a bar in Columbia left one victim dead. The shooting started with a verbal altercation, and police immediately arrested the person who allegedly killed the victim. This incident occurred on the same night as the Airbnb shooting in the same city.
Man Shot Outside Oconee County Restaurant
Another shooting in June involved a man being shot outside a restaurant in Oconee County. Again, this incident began with a verbal altercation over a $20 note. The aggressors accused the victim of stealing this money, and the man attempted to flee. A woman then shot the man in the leg, and he managed to escape to his vehicle and reach a hospital. The woman also discharged three rounds into the vehicle, hitting the radiator and the windshield. The woman was subsequently arrested by local police, and she now faces charges of attempted murder.
Man Shot at Columbia Gas Station
The fourth notable shooting in June occurred at a gas station in Columbia. Local police say that the victim suffered gunshot wounds to the lower body, and the aggressor managed to escape the scene. Fortunately, the man survived – but police are still searching for the shooter. These gas station shootings have become all too common in South Carolina. One might argue that gas station owners now have a legal duty to improve their security measures.
