South Carolina Assaults Reported in Gas Stations, Restaurants, and Lounges

PI_Law

Another week has passed, and it has brought a new string of assaults and shootings across South Carolina’s many establishments. Within just three days, customers were shot and assaulted in three separate incidents while visiting gas stations, restaurants, and lounges. If you were injured due to an incident like this, you may be able to file a negligent security claim. Consider speaking with an injury attorney in South Carolina to learn more.

Man Opens Fire at Conway Gas Station

In March of 2025, the Conway Police Department reported that they had arrested a man after a shooting incident at a gas station. The 49-year-old defendant was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and unlawful delivery of a pistol.

After receiving reports of gunfire, a responding officer witnessed two men running from the gas station. After being apprehended by the officer, the suspects admitted they were fleeing from a shooting – and that the defendant had opened fire on them. Meanwhile, the defendant tried to escape on a bicycle but was eventually caught.

Although it is not exactly clear what these three men were doing, this incident highlights the rise of criminal activities at gas stations across South Carolina. The owners of these businesses should be taking more concrete steps to prevent shootings and other hazards presented by criminals.

Man Shot and Killed Outside Hookah Lounge

One day later, authorities in Greenville County reported that a man had been shot and killed outside a hookah lounge. The incident occurred at 3 AM, and police said that they were still searching for the person responsible. Although first responders transported the man to a nearby hospital, he ultimately succumbed to his wounds. The family is reportedly trying to raise funds for funeral costs with a GoFundMe page. It is not clear whether this hookah lounge is a known hangout for violent individuals or criminals, although the fact that it was open at 3 AM would imply as much.

Man Arrested After Trying to Sexually Assault 13-Year-Old at Restaurant

One day after the hookah lounge shooting, a man was arrested for allegedly trying to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl at a Myrtle Beach restaurant. The girl’s mother works at the restaurant and regularly takes her child to work. The girl seems to be an acquaintance of the defendant, as the assault allegedly occurred when she was saying goodbye to him at the back of the restaurant. According to police, the attempted assault was caught on camera. Like the girl’s mother, the defendant works at the restaurant.
