Two Motorcyclists Die After Hit-and-Runs in South Carolina

HitRun3

Over the past two days, two people have lost their lives due to hit-and-run motorcycle crashes in South Carolina. These incidents highlight the fact that many motorists lack the responsibility and human decency to stop and help victims. If someone you loved was killed by a hit-and-run motorcycle crash, you might consider speaking with a wrongful death attorney. If you survived one of these crashes, you may be eligible to pursue compensation.

Myrtle Beach Driver Arrested After Hitting a Motorcyclist

In April of 2025, The Sun News reported that an SUV driver had been taken into custody after allegedly causing the death of a motorcyclist. North Myrtle Beach authorities say that the driver fled the scene after crashing into a motorcyclist. She was also allegedly intoxicated at the time of the collision. The 62-year-old victim was heading down Sea Mountain Highway when the defendant pulled out onto the highway, striking the motorcyclist and causing fatal injuries.

Although first responders rushed the victim to the nearest hospital, he ultimately passed away about 5 hours after the collision. The 36-year-old SUV driver fled the scene, but she was apprehended by police fairly quickly. Authorities soon discovered a slew of other crimes. She was found to be intoxicated, leading to felony DUI hit-and-run charges. She was also charged with child endangerment and a child passenger restraint violation, implying that she had a child in her vehicle when she carried out the hit-and-run. Finally, she lacked insurance or proper license plates.

University of South Carolina Student Killed in Motorcycle Hit-and-Run

At around the same time, a USC student was killed after a second motorcycle hit-and-run in South Carolina. The accident occurred on the USC campus, and the victim was just 21 years old when he passed away. The person who struck him was driving a pickup truck, and this individual tried to flee after causing the fatal crash. Authorities subsequently determined that this individual is an undocumented immigrant, and they are now coordinating with ICE to determine the appropriate next steps. He is now facing numerous charges, including hit-and-run resulting in death.

Despite the devastating loss this individual has caused, the victim’s mother urged members of her community to forgive him. She also stated that “she knew it was an accident,” and that she was praying for the defendant’s family.
