Visiting Restaurants in South Carolina Is Now Extremely Dangerous

Liab3

Within the past week, three shootings have occurred at South Carolina restaurants. Simply going out to eat is now a dangerous activity, as you never know who might start shooting. Although local law enforcement is trying its best to track down shooters and protect the public, one has to wonder what steps the restaurant owners are taking. Is it possible to sue if you were shot at a restaurant? Can a negligent security lawyer in South Carolina help?

Dozens Flee After Shooting at Richland County Restaurant

In April of 2025, a shooting broke out at a Richland County restaurant. A surveillance camera captured dozens of people fleeing for their lives, and the footage quickly went viral. The incident occurred at about 1:30 AM at a Waffle House – a franchise that has become particularly well-known for violence in South Carolina. This specific location seems to be a favorite for local teens, as the vast majority of these individuals were high schoolers.

Even after the victims flee, shots continue to ring out across the parking lot – and this appears to have been an extended gunfight between numerous people. Police later confirmed that there were 41 shots fired in less than a minute. One person was seriously injured, and police arrived to find this individual with a gunshot wound to the lower body. Police also determined that several nearby businesses had been struck by gunfire. This situation could have been much worse, and it is perhaps fortunate that more people weren’t struck by bullets.

Woman Shot Outside a Nightclub in Spartanburg

At around the same time, a woman was shot in the leg outside a nightclub in Spartanburg. Police say the incident occurred at around 1:30 AM, and the woman’s friends tried to drive her to a nearby hospital after the shooting. Police spotted the vehicle and pulled it over. First responders then administered first aid and transported the victim the rest of the way by ambulance.

No suspects have been arrested, and it’s not clear whether the shooting was intentional. Like so many other victims, this woman may have been caught in the crossfire as two adversaries fired upon each other.

Police Still Searching for Suspects Connected to Walmart Shooting

Police are still searching for suspects in connection to a Walmart shooting in February of 2025. This shooting resulted in the death of a 24-year-old victim, and a 19-year-old subsequently turned himself in. However, four other men are believed to have participated in the shooting, and while two were taken into custody, the two remaining suspects are still at large.
