How to Prevent Violence at Motels and Hotels?

Legal contributor Attorney Brian Mickelsen, an experienced crime victim lawyer, represents crime victims and gunshot victims injured or killed in shootings, stabbings, and assaults at hotels, motels, and other commercial properties.

“Motels or hotels can be hot spots for crime, and the out-of-town guests staying there oftentimes have no idea what they are walking into. I always encourage guests to read the reviews. Poor lighting conditions and loitering are key signs that danger may be near. The hospitality industry is responsible to its guests to provide a clean and safe environment. This is best achieved with adequate lighting, cameras, and security patrols.”
